American Management Association Blog Offers Management Insights, Leadership Lessons from Today’s Business News

American Management Association (AMA), a world leader in professional development and performance-based learning solutions, announced the launch of AMA Shift, an online, interactive publishing platform that offers management insights and analysis around the top news stories of the day.

True to the association’s mission, AMA Shift serves as a global forum for the exchange of ideas among AMA staff, its customers, and industry thought leaders on business trends and best practices, all in context of what’s happening around the world.

“Management is not a static discipline, as the past decade has proven. In fact, there’s been a major shift in nearly every aspect of business and management,” said Robert G. Smith, AMA’s senior vice president of Marketing and Membership. “Whether it’s the untimely death of a business icon, a new trend that’s reshaping an entire industry, or the latest innovation that will change the world, AMA wants to facilitate a discussion about it and provide a unique editorial point of view,” Smith said.

AMA Shift ( offers three editorial features:

  •  The Daily Roundup: An insightful blog post on the hottest story of the day selected and written by AMA’s editorial staff;
  •  High Gear: A weekly guest column describing important issues, innovations and different ways of looking at business in general; and
  •  Leader Board: A monthly in-depth feature written by an industry thought leader that provides analysis on a critical business topic.

“Over and over again, we hear from managers who attend our training seminars that one of the biggest benefits is the discussions they have with other professionals they meet in our classrooms. Now, AMA Shift helps facilitate these discussions after the seminar has ended. They can share insights about the most popular stories of the day,” Smith said.

Accessing AMA Shift is open to everyone. In order to comment, guests must create and be logged into a MyAMA account (

AMA Shift augments and complements AMA’s other social media programs, including Twitter, Linkedin, and Facebook, all of which are designed to help AMA communicate online with current and potential customers. Additionally, by providing insight on the day’s news, AMA Shift reinforces AMA’s relevancy in thought leadership on current business issues.

AMA offers more than 140 seminars in 23 subject areas, including management, leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, project management, human resources, sales, marketing and finance. Programs are offered for business professionals at all levels, from senior executives to new managers and administrative professionals. AMA’s faculty comprises business practitioners with real-world experience and expert facilitation skills who use practical, action-oriented content that can be immediately applied in the workplace.
