SHARON KARAMSINGH

Sharon Karamsingh is a holistic talent development professional with close to 3 decades of experience detailing learning and development interventions, talent and leadership management, and training consultancy, spanning a variety of industries such as Manufacturing in MNC and SMI, Consultancy and Education.
 
Key expertise areas include:
 
  • Conducting company-wide Rapid Diagnostic Analysis to determine staff performance gaps in alignment with the organization business strategies. Developing competency mapping for various job levels focused on development plans and identifying best match learning interventions.
  • Supporting Learning and Development/Training Departments and Skill Development Centers in setting up their Training Needs Analysis units, and coaching and training their consultants on how to best conduct Needs Analysis for their organizations and their clients.
  • Customizing Management and Leadership Development initiatives for New to Manager, First Line, Middle and Senior Management programs.
  • Designing Performance Appraisal forms which incorporate performance competencies specific to the different job grades as well as Performance Management Processes. Coaching staff on their Individual Development Plans and Career Development Strategies.
  • Developing and maintaining on-boarding programs to incorporate holistic new hire experiences with pre-onboarding programs and post-onboarding programs for expatriates and locals.
 
2015: Sharon is currently an independent consultant and does Multicultural Training and Coaching for NetExpat; in addition she works as a project partner with Aucto Ritas Consult.
 
2013 –2015: Sharon worked as a Learning and Development Specialist for Lafarge Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. where she designed and developed their on-boarding programs which incorporated 3 different lines of businesses which had undergone a merger exercise to form one entity (Lafarge Concrete, Lafarge Cement and Lafarge Aggregates). In addition, Sharon was selected as the organization’s Project Lead for its Sales Force Effectiveness program which was a Lafarge group project and led a cross functional business team to successful completion of the program delivery and its implementation.
 
2012 –2013: Sharon was the Lead Consultant at BLC Innovation which provided HR and Training solutions for small and medium sized companies.
 
2010-2012: Sharon was the HR Development Manager at International Medical University and she set-up the Learning and Development Unit which focused on learning and development for its academic and corporate staff. She set up the structure, strategies, policies and systems; conducted company, department and individual needs analysis and delivered customized training in alignment with IMU’s business needs; she also developed and delivered its onboarding and multicultural programs. In addition, Sharon revised its Performance Appraisal forms and processes incorporating the balanced score card and key competencies.
 
2006 –2009:  Sharon held several roles in Intel Technology Sdn. Bhd. over her 3 years with Intel; her roles ranged from: leading the Greater Asian Region (GAR) Sales and Marketing Group’s Learning and Development team; heading Intel Kulim Learning and Development; and leading the Management Development Team Malaysia.  Sharon partnered with the APAC team to put together the Leadership Action Learning program (LEAP) for its Sales and Marketing Managers which she won a Divisional Award for. Sharon also worked with the Managing Director, the HR Director and General Manager to put together their Senior Manager Program in collaboration with the Wawasan Open University.
 
2003 –2004: Sharon was a Trainer with People Potential
 
1999 – 2003: She was a Consultant for Penang Skills Development Center and supported in providing a range of Training and Development solutions for various clients. She also helped set up the Training Needs Analysis unit for various SMEs.
1996 – 1998: Sharon was the Training and HR Manager with OE Design Sdn. Bhd. She set-up their Training Department (which included putting in policies, processes, identifying the company’s training needs, establishing a curriculum for its staff and redesigning its Performance Appraisal process and forms, in addition to teaching the management team how to coach and manage performance.
 
1998 – 2006: Intel Technology Sdn. Bhd.Sharon was a pioneer in the set-up of the Training and Development team, and was selected to undergo the full certification of instructional design and evaluation. She designed competency based curriculums, and designed and developed training programs for her internal clients. She worked with the GM to put together the “Young Executive Development Program” preparing middle managers to take on Senior Manager roles in collaboration with USM School of Management. She also partnered with USM to put together a certification program for the supervisors and superintendents.
 
She holds a B.A. from University of Adelaide, South Australia graduating in 1988, and a Post Graduate Diploma in HR Management and Training from Leicester University (2002). Sharon has attended and been certified in various programs ranging across Instructional Design, Instructional Skills, Organizational Development, DDI Certification, Evaluation Skills, Conducting Needs Analysis to Coaching Skills; she is  also certified for the Booth Survey Tools for Managers and Strength Finder 2.0.
